Northern Grass Lizard
Northern Grass Lizard, as the name suggests, is a type of lizard. Scientifically known as: Creeping creature of the genus Lycoris in the family Lizardidae. 1. Appearance characteristics
The body is slender; the tip of the snout is slightly blunt, and the length of the snout is about the same length as the distance between the eyes and ears; the external nostril is located on the nasal scale, and the posterior nasal scale is on the first one Located between the scales; the ear holes are large. Almost as long as eye diameter. The hands and feet are relatively developed, reaching each other's palms when they are close to each other, and a pair of mouse webs are in the nest.
There are symmetrically arranged large scales on the top of the head, the large scales on the back are arranged in vertical rows, and the large scales on the abdomen are nearly square. The tail is easy to cut off. The back of the body is greenish brown, the belly is grayish white, and the lower side of the body is green. The body is slender, about 50-60 mm, and the tail is more than twice the body length.
2. Customs
Live in farmland, tea gardens, wilderness, roadside grass and bushes in mountains and hills. It continues to hibernate in late October and emerges from sleep in early April of the following year. The active period lasts for more than 6 months. When hibernating, it usually hides under grass roots, tree roots, soil holes on the edges of fields, or under roadside stones. During the spring and autumn season, they mostly move around noon to look for food, and can be found in the grass illuminated by the sun. They move less during the rest of the time. In summer, when the temperature is high, there is less movement at noon and most of them look for food in the shade. If disturbed, they will quickly escape.
3. Dispersion
There are 6 species of northern grass lizards, mainly distributed in central China, south China and southwest China, resting in the lush hills, plains and mountains at an altitude of 180 to 1750 meters. In the grass or low shrubs, if disturbed, they will quickly escape and feed on insects.
